Who can train in aesthetic medicine in the UK?
Aesthetic medicine is not a protected title in the UK, which is exactly why provider standards differ so widely. In practice, most practitioners training in London fall into one of three groups: registered healthcare professionals such as doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, who treat within their existing clinical scope and indemnity; Level 7 aesthetic practitioners holding an Ofqual-regulated qualification in aesthetic practice; and non-medical practitioners working under clinical oversight, whose scope depends on their insurer and local protocols.
Before paying for any course, confirm what entry requirements the provider applies, whether the certificate you receive is accepted by your insurer, and whether the programme includes complication management rather than only technique. Courses that accept anyone, teach no anatomy and issue a certificate on attendance are the reason regulation keeps being debated.
What does “CPD certified” actually mean?
Continuing professional development certification means a course has been reviewed against a standard for educational content, structure and learning outcomes. It is not the same thing as a regulated qualification such as a Level 7, which assesses competence over months rather than a single day. Both have a place: CPD accreditation is the normal benchmark for short, technique-focused courses, while regulated qualifications exist for practitioners building a full scope of practice.
Ask which body certifies the course and whether the certificate names the learning outcomes you were assessed against. At Fiore, every course is CPD-accredited, taught by a registered healthcare professional holding a Level 7 in Aesthetic Practice and a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, and structured around assessed outcomes rather than attendance alone.

How to choose an aesthetics training provider
Group size
Ask how many practitioners will be in the room. Anything above four people per educator turns supervised practice into observation.
Live model practice
You should inject a real patient under supervision, not a mannequin, and be assessed on the result rather than attendance.
Who is teaching
A registered healthcare professional with a teaching qualification will explain the reasoning behind every decision, not just the sequence of steps.
Complication management
Vascular occlusion, hyaluronidase protocols and escalation pathways belong in the core programme, not an optional add-on.
What is included
Products, consumables, equipment, certificate, refreshments and post-course mentoring should all be stated before you pay.
Post-course support
The first month of independent practice is where most questions arise. Check whether you can contact your educator afterwards.
What a well-run training day looks like
A one-day CPD course should run to roughly six and a half hours including lunch, and follow a rhythm that moves from theory to supervised practice without rushing either. The structure below is the one used at the London academy: it protects time for assessment and complications, which are the two areas most often squeezed out by providers trying to fit more students into a day.
Consultation and consent
Assessment framework, photography and the conversations that set realistic expectations.
Anatomy and product science
Layer-by-layer anatomy, danger zones, rheology and the evidence behind what you are using.
Live demonstration
Flavio treats a model while narrating every decision: plane, depth, product and volume.
Lunch
A working lunch with the other practitioner, which is often where the real questions surface.
Supervised practice
You treat a live model with direct, hands-on supervision and immediate correction.
Complications and aftercare
Recognition, management and documentation of adverse events, plus aftercare protocols.
Assessment and close
Learning outcomes signed off, certificate issued and post-course contact shared.
How much does aesthetics training in London cost?
Single-day CPD courses in London typically range from around £600 to £1,000, with tear trough and advanced body work at the top of that range because they demand one-to-one supervision. At Fiore, courses run from £699 to £999 per day, and the price includes all products, consumables and equipment, lunch and refreshments, the CPD certificate and access to your educator for mentoring after the course. When comparing providers, check whether products and models are included: a cheaper headline price often excludes both, and that changes the real cost of the day.
Questions to ask before you book
- Which professional body certifies the course, and what does the certificate state?
- How many practitioners will be training alongside me?
- Will I inject a live model myself, and how much of the day is supervised practice?
- What is the educator’s own clinical and teaching background?
- Are complications, hyaluronidase protocols and consent covered in the programme?
- What support is available once I start treating patients independently?
If a provider cannot answer those questions clearly before you book, that is the answer. You can read about our educator, browse the full course list or send an enquiry with the course you are considering.
